On this new tour we will use e-bikes to explore the best Singletracks along the route of The Kokopelli Trail from Fruita, CO to Moab, UT. Backcountry campsites allow ample time to take in the majestic corridor of the Colorado river at the Utah/CO border. Highlights include Fruita’s 18 Road, home of boundless flow and some of the most “pure fun” trails anywhere. Ebikes will allow us to hit tons of trail, and say yes to extra laps. We’ll then make our way towards “Rabbit Valley” and the Western Rim trail, t raversing the rock rims above the Colorado River, the sometimes technical and narrow trails climb and descend through high desert terrain with expansive vistas towards Moab. As we develop and perfect this new trip, the itinerary is subject to change to create the best experience.
Itinerary
Day 1 – 18-25 miles – The Kokopelli trail is named for the mythical flute player exemplified in southwest rock art. Our route begins riding parts of Mary’s Loop, Lion’s Loop and the Horsethief Loop, which are the gems of the whole trail system. Portions of the ride offer spectacular views of the Colorado River and the singletrack is outstanding with some fun but challenging sections. We will camp either at Bitter Creek or Rabbit Valley. Mileage totals: 18-25 miles. Once camp is set your work is done! Your guides will take care of the details from setting up lawn chairs with hors d’oeuvres and the drink cooler nearby, to cooking up a healthy delicious meal. We have washbasins available to clean up with and a solar shower will be available for at least 1 night during the trip. It’s your time to relax, whether it’s lounging around camp with our library of books or setting out for a hike to explore your surroundings.
Day 2 – 20-30 miles – After a hot and hearty breakfast we’ll set out exploring sections of the Kokopelli trail and the offshoot trails of Rabbit Valley and the canyon rims over looking the Colorado River. We will ride parts of the Western rim trails. Our ride today is mostly rolling with fun “whoop-de- do’s” and one good challenging climb back up to our camp at the top of Bitter Creek. Mileage totals: 20-30 miles depending on the options we choose.
