By Air

Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO)

By Car

  • From Albuquerque: 3.5 hours via US-550
  • From Moab: 5 hours via US-191 and US-160

Altitude Considerations

Durango sits at 6,500 feet, with trails climbing much higher. If coming from sea level:

  • Arrive a day early to acclimate
  • Stay hydrated
  • Take it easy the first day
